Vajrayogini Statue in Brass, 3 Inches Tall
This is a metal Vajra Dakini Statue that depicts the Tibetan Tantric Buddhist Goddess Vajrayognini. She works tirelessly toward the Destruction of Ignorance egotism, and is thus depicted as a fierce goddess, even though She is devoted to the well being of all sentient beings. Vajrayogini has conquered selfishness and delusion and is seen as a leader for people who have strong passions and are working to transform them in to virtues. Devotees of Vajra Dakini will meditate upon Her form in order to help them transform all mundane experiences in to a spiritual paths with a goal of Enlightenment.
While Buddhist deities are traditionally depicted without weaponry, Tantric Buddhist deities are often depicted with what Westerners consider macabre icons. Vajrayogini is depicted in this statue with a necklace made of skulls. She holds a long club (khaṭvāṅga), used as a weapon and adorned with skulls, in Her left hand, while in Her right hand she holds a flaying knife (known as a kartika).
