This posture is known as the Perfection Buddha, or the Argument Buddha. The thumb and forefinger touching makes a circle, and this circle reflects the idea of the universe and all life in it being a circle. Wherever we go, our karma follows us. This is a statue of the Lord Buddha in the posture of Meditation, also known as the Amitabha Buddha. The word "Amtiabha" means Boundless Light or Incomprehensible, denoting that which cannont be contained or understood.
The overall triangular shape of the image, and the symmetry of the image, are symbols for the balance that can be found in the Dharma.
Teaching the Dharma:
This statue represents one of the auspicious moments in the life of the Buddha. It depicts the first time that the Buddha taught the Dharma to His disciples. This posture is known also as the Dharma Chakra posture.
