Buddha Pendant from Thailand
These Buddha Pendants are from Thailand and are often referred to as amulets, meaning a religious or spiritual artifact that is meant to help protect the person wearing them. But in Buddhist countries such as Thailand, the laypeople and monks alike wear Buddha pendants as an act of devotion to the Dharma (the collective teachings of the Buddha). In fact, it is not uncommon to see one person with several Buddha pendants on one necklace, alongside pendants depicting venerated Buddhist monks or local deities. Other pendants commonly worn by Thai Buddhists may include phallic symbols, or animal bones or teeth fashioned into necklace pendants.
