Seated Buddha Statues from India 20 Inches Tall
This Indian Buddha Statue is 20 Inches tall and approximately 12 inches wide, and is hence one of the largest, most attractive Buddha stautes that we carry. This brass statue is in the pose of Warding Off Fear / Protection From Evil (that is the Amogshiddhi hand gesture, where the right hand is raised with the palm facing outward). The left hand is in the posture of Meditation, where the hand is laid face up in the lap.
As is common for most Buddha statues, this image is seated upon a lotus lossom, which is a symbol for purity in both Buddhism and Hinduism. This statue has a very detailed garment, which is really brought to life by the size of the statue. Truly an impressive work of art.
Becuase this statue is so large, it would be a great piece to have as the main statue for your altar. But if you don't have an altar table, then just remember that there are some general rules when placing a Buddha statue in your home. You don't want to put a statue next to any large objects that would tower over the statue. Also, since feet are considered lowly in Asian culture, you don't want the statue to be situated in a place where people's feet would point at the statue (such as at the foot of a bed).
