A mini Kuan Yin statue, which stands 1.75 inches tall. This little statuette is of Kuan Yin, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. Kuan Yin is the most widely recognized female deity in East Asia, and has a male counterpart in Tibetan Buddhism, Avalokiteshvara. Her name translates as "One Who Hears the Cries of the World" and you will often see shrines and gazebos dedicated to her in Buddhist temples. In this statue, Kuan Yin is depicted standing on a Lotus Blossom, a symbol of Purity in both Buddhism and Hinduism. Kuan Yin holds a vase upright in her left hand which she used to pour compassion on to the world. Her right hand is raised in the gesture of protection.
