One of our most popular Sitting Shiva statues is now back in stock in bronze resin. This statue depicts Lord Shiva sitting with the hands face up in the lap in Meditation, with the legs crossed in the Double Lotus pose. This murti reflects Shiva's role as Lord of the Ascetics, who renounced the pleasures of the world and sought spiritual enlightenment. Shiva, when depicted as a seeker of the Eternal Truth, is shown worn little clothing - only a loin cloth, really - and sits upon a tiger skin rug. The details of the accompanying signs of Mahadeva are also clearly depicted; the three points of the trident that represent the creation, protection, and destruction of the universe, the cobra that coils around His upper body, the quarter moon resting upon matted hair, and the cosmic drum that keeps the pulse of the universe beating.
These statues are made of a composite of bronze powder mixed with resin, which allows for a highly detailed figure that can be subtly colored. Notice the crevices in the tiger skin rug as well as the three horizontal lines that cross the third-eye in the middle of Shiva's forehead. The back of the statue also enjoys much of the same attention to detail.
