Lakshmi Statue Making an Offering
This is a statue of the Goddess Lakshmi making an offering with a single oil lamp in her hands. Agni is the fire god important to all Hindu rituals, and by holding a lamp, Lakshmi is able make a proper offering. Notice that Lakshmi is normally depicted with four arms (two usually holding lotus blossoms), but when Lakshmi holds an oil lamp, she is shown with two arms. also, Lakshmi's usual accompanying elephants and owl are nowhere to be seen in this statue. Instead a single parrot rests upon her right shoulder.
