She is seen in this poster with an Owl, the traditional vehicle which she rides when traveling. Laxmi is beloved for her grace and lotus-like beauty (indeed, one of her common names means Face Like a Lotus in English).

Sri Lakshmi is well known from the Devi Mahatmya (glory of the Goddess), a Hindu scripture from around 500 C.E., which forms the foundation of Shakti devotion and the idea of God as a female principle. However, even those Hindus who do not follow this path venerate the Goddess Lakshmi and celebrate her each year during Diwali, or the Festival of Lights.
