The Heart Sutra is engraved onto the base of this statue which depicts the Buddha in the post of Calling The Earth To Witness. The Heart Sutra may be one of the most widely accepted of all Buddhist scriptures, and is revered in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition. Coincidentally, the Heart Sutra is also one of the shortest of all the works related to perfect wisdom. It is chanted in one form or another from India, through China, Vietnam, and into Japan, as well as in temples in the West that follow the Mahayana tradition.
The statue depicts the Buddha sitting in the Double Lotus pose (with the feet resting over each knee in a "locked" position). The right hand reaches down in the posture of Calling The Earth To Witness the sincerity of the Buddha in reaching Enlightenment for the good of all beings.
Material: This statue is made from bronze powder which is mixed with resin, and is then cast into shape. The statue is finished with paint after being cast, so what you will have is a very beautiful figure that looks as if it was sculpted of metal, but for a much more affordable price.
