This is a Sitting Ganesh statue that is 8 inches tall and over 4 inches wide. In this statue Ganesh sits upon a raised pedestal along with his vehicle, the bandicoot. Ganesh sits with his two feet together, which is not a compon posture for Ganesh statues. Usually Ganesh will sit with one the right foot pendant (i.e., hanging down, resting on a pillow or lotus blossom). Note that this sitting Gaesh statue shows him with only one tusk attached, which is quite common, since it is believed that Lord Ganesh broke off the other tusk in order to inscribe the Mahabharata.
