This Bodhi Tree Buddha Statue stands 11 inches tall, and features the Buddha sitting in meditation under the Bodhi Tree (or Tree of Enlightenment). This particular Buddha poses tells is based on the story of how Prince Siddhartha, after trying for six years, was able to attain enlightenment while meditation under the Bodhi tree. This bronze resin material used in making this Buddhist rupa allows for high detail and fine finish. If you view the closeup photos you will see two peacocks in the branches above the shoulders of Gautama Buddha, as well as prancing deer and other animals which were associated with the earliest Buddhist artwork.
This depiction of the meditating Buddha is unique in that it depicts the Enlightened One wearing princely clothing and jewelry, instead of wearing the simple robes of an ascetic (or hermit). This is an ideal statue for those who practice meditation or are seeking calm and serenity in their lives. While the Bodhi tree under which the Buddha meditated is not worshiped as a Buddhist deity, it is still highly revered. For example, in Bodhi Gaya, the tree claimed to be the original is decorated with prayer flags, while trees around the world that grew from the sapling of the original tree are venerated in monastery grounds.
